Bekal Fort - Most popular Place in Kerala
Bekal fort is around 300 years old and built in a shape of giant key hole located at Kasaragod district in Kerala. There are several forts in Kerala, among all of them Bekal Fort is the best preserved and Largest fort in Kerala. It is surrounded by an elegant beach.Few centuries ago On observation tower of Bekal fort huge cannons were placed. But now it is being used for superb view of Arabian sea. Nowadays Bekal fort , Hill stations and water sports facilities nearby bekal fort are famous for film shooting.
Tourism of Bekal Fort
Bekal Fort is situated at 67 km from manglore at Kasaragod District of Kerala. Its spread over 40 acres.In 1992, Bekal Fort was declared as special tourism area by Government of India. Bekal Tourism development corporation has been formed by Government to convert it into international tourism center. After that promotion activities has been done by Bekal resort Development Corporation. Many scenes and songs of film has been shot at Bekal Fort. Uyire song of Bombey has also been shot here and directed by Mani Ratnam. The Mangrove Trail of Malabar is a day trippers visiting place about 45km from Bakel. It is a coastal Jungle trail offering birding, hiking, & boating. 8:00 am to 5:30 pm is the timing for bekal fort.
